Coloring Goodness for August // Acorn Princess

[** Update: downloads are archived after two months—or more—so for patrons have plenty of time to access them. Sometimes it’s much longer! I removed these over a year after posting! I make the post public when i archive the downloads, though, so more people can see the idea and the and process. —Kir **]

Tried a new thing today: layering simple brush lines over a pencil sketch. I can do this on my phone with my stylus (yay!) but I have to be careful of accidentally touching the brush size control. (That’s what’s happened to the gnome and the sparrow I was working on; making better progress on a tiny thumbnail sketch I did for a recent sketchfest).

So for this one I just used the laptop and Photoshop. The stylus works on the track pad, but I think I need to hook in this old tablet I have instead of using it on the tiny track pad.

The preview is a screen shot of the lines over the pencil sketch, with some playing around with other brushes and layering lighting a tiny bit. There is SO SO SO much to learn! Like next time I’m going to do weird things to sizes before I do lines and see if I can work bigger…

In the mean time, it’s fall, I have been doing a little hiking, and there were acorns on the hills. (I don’t have oaks at my house.) That made it nice to do the linework on this one, even though it’s an older drawing.

Also: Oh, heavens will I ever catch up?
